Default Engine Belt $100?

Whoa I just took my 07 TCH in to get the water pump replaced. They spotted a leak at my last oil change.

Since it has 90k miles on it, I asked them to replace the engine belt as well, since I would just have to pay for the part and not the labor. I was surprised to find out that just the belt itself costs $100!! After some back and forth, I got them to give me 15% off the part, but still.. $85 for a belt? I was expecting somewhere in the range of 30-50 bucks. It's not even that long and only goes around a few components since it's a hybrid (no alternator, A/C compressor, etc..)

Has anyone gotten their belt replaced? How much was it?

Ouch! I paid around 30 for mine and installed it myself. Stealerships are always going to make money on service even if they "are not charging you for labor."

Well, after it was all said and done, they ended up charging me $34.95 for the belt. It could be partly due to the fact that I went to their parts dept. and asked how much it was and they told me $34.95. Then I went to the service manager and told him about that, and he told the parts guys to talk to the other parts guy the service manager talked to that gave him the $100 price.

Anyways, when I went to pick up my car, they ended up charging me $34.95 for the belt.

The belt is called a serpentine belt. I ordered it from the exact same website that SteveHansen mentioned. It was $25.XX with tax included. I picked it up at Elmore Toyota in Westminster, CA. So I didn't have to pay for shipping.

I remember there was a dealership coupon (either online or mailed home) that I saw for serpentine belts. It was only $19.95 for each. However, that was about a year ago.

I was quoted $45 at the part counter when I was buying some oil filters at Tustin Toyota (hint: use the online oil filter coupon for $3.39 from their website) in Tustin, CA.

$100 doesn't sound right. They may be thinking about the engine timing chain, but I would think that would cost a little more than $100.
