- Three mornings I drove and after 1 minute, the ICE would shut off when I stopped. (Stage 2 - right?)
- I could not get the TCH ICE to stop when coasting after entering stage 2, and stopped several more times with the ICE stopping within seconds of stopping the car (all three mornings)
- Two mornings after ~3 minutes the temp gauge was on division below normal (4th mark) and the TCH began stopping when coasting ONLY if > 35mph. (Stage 3?) HOWEVER one morning (2nd test), the ICE would shut down coasting at any speed < 41mph. I was surprised and was able to replicate it twice. Why did this only happen one time out of three mornings???!!

- After ~4 minutes the temp gauge read normal (5th mark), ICE still only stopped if coasting > 35mph, or within seconds when I stopped from < 35mph. (all three mornings!!!)
- After ~5 minutes stopping gave prolonged idle (~7 seconds) and TCH entered Stage 4, and commenced stopping anytime I coasted < 41 miles per hour. Note: turning on the fan at this point would prevent the ICE from stopping. Turning the fan back off would immediately stop the ICE.
I drove the same route each morning, but hit some lights green occasionally. I was usually the only car on the road, so slowing and stopping at random was not a problem. Total distance covered from start to entering Stage 4 was constant at 1.6 miles. I turned into a cul-de-sac at 1.6 miles and always entered Stage 4 when I stopped.
I hope someone with a scan gauge can do some testing and add to this discussion. I hope this information was of some help.

Warming up stages can't be discussed without coolant temperature reference using some instruments such as ScanGauge.

Mikey, not sure if you can edit them, as they are my posts. I'll get around to it...hopefully sometime soon. However, if you can work it out with admin to be able to edit my posts, be my guest, although I think they'd have to give you admin powers.
Ask 'em?

Harold,
You've done a great job.
I have a question for y'all.
Do you think adding a section concerning the programming/settings for the SG-II (X) would be helpful? I see where the PC forum is starting to define other settings.

I am not sure how many people have a SG. I know we are trying to keep the FAQ simple and for the less savvy. My 2 cents.

I don't even know what an SG-II(x) is, and I'm not sure if I want to.
My goal in setting up the FAQ was to create a quick reference for the newbie owner or curious shopper to be able to pop in and see many of the normal 'first timer' concerns. Were we to include all questions asked more than once, the FAQ would become a re-writing of the Owner's Manual.
I want the FAQ to be more 'Reader's Digest' and less 'Encyclopedia Britannica'.
Now, if one were interested in creating an "Advanced Owner's FAQ", covering topics for the high end tinkerer, I won't object. May be a good idea. I can't lend much to that endeavor since my lack of expertise, knowledge, time, and energy might prevent me from being an active participant. (Please note, creating and maintaining an FAQ is not as easy as it looks)
