Well, after some more trouble shooting, it seems that when I use the lockpick, it pauses navigation and as you are still moving, when the navigation (GPS) is restarted it just starts moving from the point where you paused the navigation. So if you traveled 10 ft on pause, your calibration would be off by 10ft and so forth.

I am surprised it doesn't relocate based on longitude and latitude much like other navigation systems i've seen.

I am going to be returning my lockpick2 if I can...apparently this has been difficult from what I hear, plus there is a hefty restocking fee. I've seen one on ebay for sale for awhile now so there aren't many buyers out there.

I am going with the 5.1 kwi file version and see how that works. At least it will be free.

Final recommendation - stay away from Lockpick. The cost is too much to take a risk.

Well that is different from how they say the product is supposed to work and how mine works.

I have emailed customer support and asked them for a solution or if they had heard of the problem. It is interesting that this seems to be happening with some people and not others.

I have a 2009 TCH with 8.1 Navigation software. Does this differ from yours?

Gang...

I suspect the way they are doing the lockpick is to disable the speed signal coming into the unit. (actually it would need to send a bit of a signal so the car thinks it's moving, but less than 3kph.)

If you search the web you will find guys that built a circuit (speed pulse generator) to do this, though it had a switch, rather than pushing the power button twice. It had the same issue. Once the speed signal is back, the nav "should" figure things out within 30 seconds or so and then will be fine. The issue is the nav cannot resolve the discrepency between the car saying it's going 3kph, and the GPS saying it's going much faster.

You'd think it would ignore the speed signal and just use GPS, but I know from experience that the VW/Audi ones do the same thing.

Cheers!

Dang

P.S.
While pushing the power switch twice is much nicer than the switch the speed pulse generator used, $199 is quite a bit more than the $10 in parts it takes to build one.

Can someone please answer this:

Does video input work while in motion? Do you need to activate the "unlock" feature to watch a movie? If so, then during a long road trip and you're watching a movie, you would get invalid GPS information.

The other thing I can think of is to use the 5.1 override feature to enable the navigation features and video input.

Thank you!

Did you try to do a search? This has been covered a lot of times. "5.1 kwi" gives:

Video does not work when in motion.

The 5.1 override feature, or other methods (e.g., speed pulse generator) to allow use of the navigation screen during motion, does not override the block to video in motion.

One system that I've heard does allow video in motion is at http://www.prestigioussociety.com/in...category=other and similar products are avail on ebay (do a search for "Nav TV").

Thanks for this information Joe. So basically on long road trips (or short), use your movie and you get no navigation or use navigation and you get no movies. Well... this defeats the purpose of a "lockpick".

I've also seen some other AV products like vaistech but they are a lot more expensive. I think that 229 +s&h is already quite expensive.

Thank you to all who purchased this item and wrote something about it.

Hi guys, possible answer is:
Maybe it because jpellech, you bought the FW model. it is not for our camry.
read the small print on their web: (blue text...)
OR THE
LOCKPICK 2WF

Complete Plug-In Kit with FACTORY DVD PLAYER/CHANGER unblock plus camera input
(for installations where A/V inputs are not needed or where a factory DVD player or changer is present)
ALLOWS FACTORY DVD PLAYER TO PLAY AT ANY TIME
$199.00

you dont have a DVD player! it reads only MAP dvds.
And correct me if I'm wrong bkushner, you got the AV model. that is the one you want if you have a TCH: (blue text again...)
LOCKPICK 2AV
Complete Plug-In Kit with AUDIO AND VIDEO INPUTS plus camera input
(not compatible with vehicles already equipped with factory DVD player or changer)
A/V INPUTS PLAY AT ANY TIME
$229.00

Since our DVD is for softwere dvds and not movies and the changer is a CD changer and not DVD changer the AV model is the correct one.

But this is only my opinion what do you think?
