The poor paint quality if my number one complaint. But, not much we can do about it. I hadn't been aware of the 3M films prior to purchase and the damage is done. Oh well. One thing that does concern me is that I have seen actual chipping of pain in areas where road debris should be limited. There were broken away chips of paint much like breaking ice. Because my TCH is black, I have to be very careful waxing as to now leave white wax in the holes! I have been filling them in with black paint and then clear coat but that will be a never ending task.

 

I'm not sure when the switch to the new type of paint occurred but my 1995 Camry had lots of bumper and hood chips.

 

No problems at all with my Jasper Pearl paint. I'm really happy with how it's holding up, especially since I rarely wash it and have yet to detail/wax it in 15 months of ownership.

 

When I picked up my J-built '07 TCH in Sept. of '06 it was delivered with the 'port applied' clearcoat, an overpriced rip-off that is impossible to refuse since all cars delivered in the Southeast are delivered that way. It was a blessing in disguise. No chips in 2 1/2 years. By the way, my clearcoated '95 Avalon has very few chips either. Yes I did say it's a '95 Avalon (60k miles; my wife's car)
