How come toyota canada posted on their website that US bought vehicles are not eligible for federal and provincial rebates?
It got me worried first.
What documents you sent along with claim form? I sent copy of BOS, copy of RIV saying its hybrid, and original MV 1 form.

 

It is true. US bought hybrid not eligible for rebate.

I send them a copy of purchase agreement and the form from provincial rebate.

Federal is not out yet. It should be here around oct or nov.

 

Got ontario rebate in 3 weeks time.

I sent the required form (available online), photocopy of bill of sale and photocopy of ontario registeration.

This is required if you own the car (or financed)
List of documents will change if you lease the car (check the website).

You sent a photocopy of the bill of sale and they accepted it? Hmm.. I foolishly followed their instructions and submitted the original (along with a note asking them to send it back, as instructed).

 

I called them before sending the documents and confirmed that they are OK to accept photocopy of bill of sale.

 

I bought the car in US, so did not had any tax on my bill of sale, I sent the original MV-1 and letter from RIV saying that my TCH confirms to canadian standards. Over a week passed hoping to get my tax back. Hopefully there is federal election soon, so they will start distributing their part.

 

Fedral rebate is available now. They are accepting applications now.
