Camry Warranty
Guys I am a little confused, the extended warranty, does it start the day I buy it? or after the 3/36? and its $699?! THe more warranty threads I read the more confused I get! I think i read one of the threads mentionting a 7/100/0 for $699?
And why should I buy it rt now, shouldn't I wait for the 3/36 to expire?
I have got 43 views and no replies

Re: Camry Warranty
It starts day one. There is no discount for delaying the start. It's xx years from the date the car was put in service not xx years from when you purchased the policy.
The policy covers stuff the basic warranty doesn't like towing, lodging so you are getting attitional value starting day one.

Re: Camry Warranty
If it follows the same offers I kept being solicited for with my Nissan pick-up (which I declined) the the coverage will decrease as the cost goes up the longer you wait. If you want to pick up the extended warranty (which we did for the TCH because of its untested reliabilty) it would be best to grab it soon...I think. Could be way off base on this since I comparing to Nissan.

Re: Camry Warranty
You can wait until the standard 3y/36k is about to expire before you buy the warranty. As mentioned, the start date is retroactive to the time the car was first put into service, and the 100k ends when your odometer reads 100k (not 100k after you buy the warranty)
But then you are taking the chance that the price won't go up. In July06, the dealer cost on the 7y/100k/$0 Platinum coverage was being sold for $690. By mid-Aug06, the dealer cost was already up to $990, as Toyota started figuring out how much it would really cost to maintain the TCH under the plan. So now what happens two years from now if there is (god forbid) a rash of ICE problems? The price of the Platinum coverage will immediately go up by a few hundred dollars, because that service would cost Toyota several thousand dollars per vehicle. So basically, you are taking a gamble that the coverage price won't go up by much, or that you have a problem-free car and will never need to consider buying the coverage later.
