Unlikely.... No smell at all in the car until the AC failed (which happened very quickly). The smell is a chemical smell and it happened the day the AC failed.

Had the car at the dealer yesterday and it has already quit working again. So, bad, bad leak somewhere. I plan to take it in again next week. More to follow....

 

Forgot to mention..... I went out to the car early in the morning to go to work the day after I posted last and there was about a 1 foot diameter patch of green dye in my driveway that came out of the condensation drain tube.

That's pretty much the verdict. Massive leak up in the airbox from the evaporator and or associated plumbing.
