Buying Used TCH New to Hybrid
Hey everyone. I am thinking of picking up a used 2008 TCH tonight that hass 88,000 miles on it. I've been doing a lot of research and I believe this is the car to go with but I have one question before I get into a contract...
How can I tell if the battery pack is OK on it? I already test drove it the other day and everything seems to be ok. My biggest concern has been what if the battery pack goes... especially since it so close to not being covered by warranty (Nevada - 8yrs 100,000 miles correct). I know it is a huge expense if they do go but it is rare for them to go bad.
Thanks in Advance!

Re: Buying Used TCH New to Hybrid
Have you ever wondered how expensive the transmission would be to fix in your current car? I thought so......
These batteries RARELY go bad and need to be replaced. In fact, there have only been a handful that have been done. Either way, if you are worried about it, it would run between $1,500 to $2,500 to get it rebuilt or replaced. My 2008 has over 150,000 miles on it and I fully expect the battery to last the lifetime of the car which I expect to be in excess of 300,000 miles.

Congrats on your new to you Camry! I think you will have a LOT of fun figuring out how everything works and there are a lot of helpful posts here that explain how your new hybrid works. We have an active group here that will try to help with any issues you may have as well as DIY's for some of the items that are specific to hybrids.

BTW, would you happen to know if I can change my display name? I signed-up using FB but don't want my real name being displayed all the time...
Thanks!

Did a search on the topic. Most of the posts were quite old. Gist of them seemed to be to ask the moderator to change your screen name. Unaware if this is the current practice. Hope this helps.

Some of the data might be out of date (since I haven't looked at it in 6? years)
Enjoy (and have fun getting used to the noises)
