Question Break In Mileage

For those of you who have traveled more than 5,000 miles, have you seen any indication that your mileage when traveling the same route has improved?

If so, at what mileage point did you see improvement?

My mileage actually decreased about 1mpg after 3000 miles. Even after the first oil change at 5000, the FE has stayed at the reduced number.

NO. Same driving produces same results.

5100 miles. No measured difference in FE based upon break-in of the engines. I attribute the improvement after 500 miles to be due to the break-in of the driver and this website.

No difference. My FE inproved a few mpg after the first tank, but I think that was me learning how the TCH drives. I have 6K of fillups in the mileage database.

Just completed my second fill since purchase and after 705 miles averaged 45.4 mpg. This is hand calculated, filling with the exact amount as my first fill of 15.53 gal. Sure hope this continues! This is beyond my expectations as it is less than 8 mpg difference than I've averaged in my Prius over 40K.

I've had variations, but not due to breakin as far as I can tell. Purchased the car early June and went through some very hot weather with the A/C on all the time. Had a pleasant late summer/early fall. Turned off the A/C and the mileage went up. However, I attribute some of the increase to learning how to drive the car. Now that we've had some cool mornings (mid-30s) my mileage has dropped about 2 - 3 mpg.
