I had a Blackberry which had to be manually paired each time I started the car. Recently I switched over to an LG phone. This one automatically connects/disconnects but now I don't get the bars that determine signal strength on the non-nav LCD screen.

Which LG phone do you have and who's your provider? I have the non-NAV TCH. I use the LG8300 and Verizon Wireless. Mine shows the signal strength.
