Default BIG MPG Drop!

Had 30K service on my 07 Camry just before Thanksgiving. First tank after the servicing noticed big drop in mpg and took it back to dealer. They said nothing was wrong.

Then left on long trip (which I'm still on). Have driven about 1,500 miles and my best mileage is 33mpg on the highway! Other tanks have been 32 and 31 mpg. This is pretty much all highway miles as well.

Typically, I've been getting 36 mpg around town and 40 on the hikghway. Any ideas on what might have caused this dramatic drop in mileage? I've made no changes on the car.

Thanks

John

Check your tire pressure.

If you typically drive the car by yourself and you are now on a trip with a few people and luggage, the extra weight could contribute to your mileage decline.

At what speed are you driving? Is there any change in elevation on yor trip? Is there any head wind? Or cross wind? All factors.

Good thoughts. However, I'm driving with less weight than normal, on roads and routes I've driven many times before and still got better mileage on previous trips while driving same speed. That is why I'm stumped.

Thanks

Could be but didn't have this drop in mileage last year.

At my last servicing, they let 10 psi out of all my tires and replaced my 0W20 with 10W30 oil.

I'm in Northern California, the temperature just drop to mid 40s since last week before Thanksgiving. My mileage dropped from 40 to 37 mpg.

Cold weather reduces FE.
