Soon someone will have a hitch receiver for the TCH - they always do build them, even for cars which are recommended to tow nothing like the TCH, because there are usually enough buyers clamoring for them.

 

After bumping this thread I called Saris. Although their website does not list the 2007 Camry the rep said that all their racks (I assume he meant truck-mounted) would work on the 2007 Camry.

 

I know the owner's manual recommends not putting a hitch on the car, but is that solely because of lost FE r is there some other consideration? It doesn't really specify and since this is a lease, I'm wondering if putting a hitch rack on will cause me tons of grief when I go in for service.

When we picked up the car, the dealer said he saw no reason we couldn't add a hitch and rack -- that was before we read the manual. We almost got a small SUV just so we could throw our bicycles in the back or on a hitch rack (we are really short so a roof rack wouldn't work anyway), but fell in love with the TCH.

 

Consider this:

The non-hybrid Camry does not have the "not recommended" in the manual. In fact they are rated to tow 1000 lbs.

The TCH is the same car body. So how is a bike rack going to hurt a TCH while not hurting an LE?

 

I am planning on putting a bike rack on my TCH too.

I didn't read the manual yet but was going to see if a tow hitch could be put on.

My neighbor has one on her Prius and I haven't talked to her yet.

What is a trunk rack? One like the cheapo strapped on ones?
