Default Which Backup Camera?

I'm looking at backup cameras to add to my '08 TCH with NAV. After reading some other threads, people have had success with the Eclipse BEC-106, BEC-108, and the Rostra Rearsight. They all cost about the same ~$200, just curious which camera everyone prefers?

FWIW...I opted for the backup beeper. It has advantages and disadvantages (obviously), but I think you should also consider it. I think it's a great tool and, while I don't have the camera, I don't think I'd switch. I really like it.

I have a hard time trying to justify a backup camera in a sedan like this.. I checked off "other" as in _none_.

I, on the other hand, was very disappointed with the visibility at the back as well as the side of the car. Compared to my Avalon, I feel like this is one of the big problems with the design. Without my 'back up beeper' shifting into reverse is guesswork and praying. Turning around in my driveway was a nightmare.
When I go into the other car I'm amazed at how much more you can see.

I have the Eclipse BEC-106 because, when I installed it, that was the current model. I am not familiar with the BEC-108. The BEC-106 works just fine. The neighbors kids are safe.

used the rostra- after a failed attempt with an eclipse camera.

The rostra is plug and play- and much easier to install than modding an eclipse to fit in the camry's NAV unit.

I say go with the rostra.

Thanks,
sorry it took so long to reply

Park Pilot
It was extremely easy to install (for me). I had someone else put it in

Call Ed McElligott (203) 439-0196 and he'll find a local installer...let a pro do it!

Hello to all

A backup camera is a special device that allows vehicles to obtain an accurate view of the space behind them. This is critical since the trunk of a vehicle causes an impediment to the view of the area exactly behind it.
Statistics show that at least 50 small children are killed yearly because drivers are unable to see them in their rear view mirrors while reversing. A backup camera is meant to correct this disadvantage and increase road safety for all concerned.
Large vehicles such as Motorhomes (RVs) and trucks are especially in need of this sort of device since their size makes it impossible to clearly view what is behind them. They are also particularly vulnerable to their blind spot - the area which drivers can neither view directly nor through a rear view mirror. This defect is corrected with a proper video camera in place.

Thanks for sharing
Have a nice day
