Default 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid - No crank

Picked up a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid but it will not start. Had the P0A0D but after testing all of the interlock circuit, No fault codes immediately returned. The vehicle has only attempted to start one time but did not stay running. The CEL and Ready alternate flashing when attempting to start the vehicle and an audible clicking noise can be heard in the rear.

Has a brand new 12v battery. Also have brake warning light illuminated on the dash but no codes in ABS and brake fluid level is OK.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

There is a permanent fault code stored in the engine ECU for “Low Engine Performance”.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you

It's easier to help you when you provide detailed information. P0A0D clearly indicates the interlock circuit.

Are you using a cheap consumer grade code reader, or a professional grade tool?
What is the Low Engine Performance code?
When you clear codes, what codes return?

Recommend you limit failed start attempts. The hybrid battery can be depleted by multiple failed attempts, and you'll have to charge it manually

Recommend you clear all codes with the tool and disconnect 12V for 5 minutes. Locate the MAF sensor and unplug it. In some cases a failed MAF sensor simply sends bad data and prevents running without throwing a MAF sensor code. Reconnect 12V and attempt start.

If that works, you will get a MAF sensor related code because it is unplugged. The car will run, but only in a limited fashion up to about 25% throttle. Recommend you let the car idle charge the hybrid battery for 5 minutes or until the car shuts off the engine normally. Turn off and replace MAF sensor.

The car won’t make repeated start up attempts and I cannot activate the engine compression test mode either. At most it might give it a tiny bump but never enough to roll the engine over. Only the one time has it fired up. Suppose I will unplug the MAF and test.

Battery life on dash says it has a half charge. Could this be inaccurate?

It could, but probably not. The battery gauge resets with code clearings and 12V resets.

When it "fired up," did it run for 5-10 seconds and then shutdown? If so, that was the HV battery spinning the engine w/o firing.

I asked you three questions. I did that to get answers, so I may better help you. If you want my help, please answer the questions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't like wasting my time.

P0102 and P0113 indicate likely MAF sensor failure.

P3190 is thrown frequently when the engine fails to start like when you have a faulty MAF sensor or dirty throttle body.

P3000 is a generic hybrid system fault. It doesn't mean anything by itself.

Have you replaced the MAF sensor and cleaned the throttle body?
