Default 1st oil change

Am I correct in stating that the first oil change for the camry is at 5000 miles?

How many months? I'm a lower mileage driver so I change my oil every 5 months or 3K miles whichever comes first. I use conventional oil. Oil changes cost me $24 at the dealer which includes filter and tire pressure check safety check hinge lube and fluid adjustments as required. They use 5W-20. I questioned them about synthetic and got the same response twice that basically they don't start synthetics in any car before 10K miles and with the miles I drive synthetic would be a waste of money. The 10K thing is interesting especially if it is true the TCHs come from the factory with synthetic oil in them. I can't find that documented reliably anywhere though.

The first RECOMMENDED oil change is at 5k, and each 5k after that. However, many people like to make their first oil change at 1K right after the engine has been broken in, to make sure any metal filings are removed from the engine immediately. There is nothing wrong with changing your oil more frequently, like every 3k, some people here will say you are wasting your money while others will tell that your engine will last longer since you keep "fresher" oil in it all the time. YMMV.

for my oil change, they used VV955 SYNPOWER OIL.
FIRST OIL CHANGE FOR MY TCH. They put 5 of this and one filter and total cost was $78.

VV means volvo something I guess.

I was told that once I use synthetic oil, I must always use synthetic oil and not change to regular oil. true?

I was told to do it at 1000 miles (I have a voucher) but I am at 2000 miles now.

Should I just wait until 5000 miles, now? Please advise.

No reason to change oil with less than 4k miles (unless extreme condition of driving), I just changed myself the engine oil (saw MAINT REQUIRED SOON reminder) using 100% fully synthetic Mobil 1 0W-20 at 4670 miles and it cost me only less than $35 (including tax).
