0 MPG consumption

Re: 0 MPG consumption
BTW, the TCH and Neutral = bad. By design, neutral won't be able to charge the traction battery - and extended idling in Neutral will cause it to go flat. There's a warning to that effect in the owner's manual.

I would add that you don't need to be in neutral to see 0 MPG. Anytime you are looking at the real time mpg reading and your speed is zero the mpg should be 0 or the computer is not doing the math correctly.
As we all know prolonged winter or summer idling to improve interior comfort is one of the biggest MPG killer if you are trying to beat the epa rating.
Lets say you use 1/2 a gallon per tank going nowhere warming up, cooling down or what ever and the tank hold 10 gallons. That is the difference between going 350 miles and going 332.5 or getting 35 mpg and 33.25 assuming a 35 mpg potential.

Re: 0 MPG consumption
On the honda civic hybrid, the mileage meter indicates 0 liters/100 km being consumed, when you sit idling. I believe this would translate to 99 mpg, if the car was set up for US display. But, I think Honda is just trying to cheer you up: the opposite is actually the case:
Whenever you sit idling, you are getting the worst mileage. Well actually, you can do worse: sit and rev it.

The first response was correct. Perfectly normal. It will change to E when ICE is not required to run for other reasons.
