A 10% increase in fuel economy is actually not bad considering the simplicity of the VUE's BAS hybrid system. I bet the VUE Greenline has significantly lower emissions as well since idling of the engine is greatly reduced.

Finally, none of the testers at US car magazines seem to have clue about driving for best fuel economy. They drive their test cars well in excess of the speed limit, ride the throttle and brake hard and then wonder why their mileage sucks ....
