i think when you put a cell phone in anyone's hands in a car, especially younger drivers, it just creates a problem. there is enough distraction on the roads without adding to it from within your own vehicle. i have a cell phone, and will not use it while i am driving. a lot of the younger women i mentioned above tend to also be on the phone.

Back on the topic of wind power, a study just recently released showed that in the last 35 years of data collection, wind power has been shown to be solidly reliable as an addition to the power grid's demands. Further, the study dispelled the myths about wind power being generated at times it wasn't needed (the opposite was true) and that there is never a time when the whole country is without usable wind, thus a diverse network will still be producing wind power even when some areas are without wind.

Wind power supporters have received a boost from a study that shows Britain has the best wind in Europe because it blows all year round and peaks when there is greatest demand for electricity.

The first methodical investigation of Britain's wind resources has found that, despite claims to the contrary, there has never been a time over the past 35 years when the entire country has been "becalmed".

Default A Really Controversial Idea

Antartica is the windiest place in the world. Energy transmission would be challenging but not impossible. The big problems would be the environmentalists objection and allowing nations to harness energy in a land no nation is supposed to make claims.

My sister lives up in the Rockies in Colorado and it seems like there's always a heck of a wind blowing through that whole mountain range. We've got quite a lot of mountains in the US too, so maybe that would be a region for possible exploration. Again, the big downfall is that the Rockies are one of the most beautiful places on Earth and I think some of that would be lost if we just dotted the whole landscape with windmills. Maybe antartica isn't such a bad idea after all? I'm pretty sure our army can take over the place with minimal loss of life.
