Interesting you mentioned smoking....

I try have an open mind, considering some people move to the slow lane when taking cell phone calls, keep them short, etc. Most of us have seen cell phone use on the road that is irresponsible and even dangerous. Even cell phone providers are concerned now....

A number of industries have taken note of the lawsuits taken against the tobacco industry. It probably only a matter of time before a cell phone company is sued following an accident. Organizations like MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) will be eager to help the plantiff. Then rates will go up, probably for everybody.

It's like dealing with a passive-agressive teacher in grade school - students cut up and the class is nowhere in order. Then the teacher cracks down and punishes the entire class.

In case my last post was ambigous, some cell phone users obviously abuse it on the road. Some of them will get in crashes. Eventually the cell phone companies will be sued, just like the cigarette industry. Probably substantial awards will be made, and the cell phone industry will respond. They will probably hike fees or restrictions for everybody, not just the ones that abruptly change three lanes during rush hour yaking to their best friend...
