With respect to the OIL War (Operation Iraqi Liberation, ha ha), here's a timeline I'd *love* to see happen:
2006: Democrats regain House and Senate.
2007: Bush/Cheney (and others) face impeachment over misinformation regarding this war, the illegal wiretapping, and the imprisonment of US citizens (indefinately and w/out judicial review). Bush/Cheney (et.all) are subsequently convicted.
2008: Bush/Cheney face a military tribunal for war crimes and treason.

I'm not commenting directly on Iraq, but if less dependance on foreign oil avoids wars - it's got to be a national priority. Excessive wars wore out the Roman, then British Empires.

Re: Operation Iraqi Oil Freedom
The president has done some things which I don't agree with... such things like the voter reform act, runaway spending, arab port control and a few other things but I think he has done a pretty good job.
A few things are:
*No successful U.S. attacks since 2001 (Security)
*Strong growing economy
*Low unemployment
*No real tax increases
*Gasoline price control
I really have mixed thoughts of the war, but consider it as unavoidable.

Better?
Operation Foreign
Oil Freedom
hybrid-electric
80 MPG was right!

This is about a 'soft' as I can go. Al Gore's "high mileage" program was defunded to pay for the hydrogen program. The goal of that program was a US car capable of '80 MPG' and had proposals from all three US manufacturers. I was particularly intriged by GM's hydrolic nitrogen tank solution. But after the 2001 election, a program that could have given US car companies a chance was replaced by the 'hydrogen' program.
Another day, we might discuss what is wrong with the hydrogen program but not today and not in this thread. Send me e-mail if you are curious about why the hydrogen technology is so wrong.

You're kidding me, right?
#1: Bush is the first president since FDR to preside over a terrorist attack on US soil. And 9/11 happened *partly* because Bush likes to take 4 or 5 vacations each year (3-5 weeks each!)
#2: Jobs are leaving this country at Mach 5. Our trade deficit has *never* been higher.
#3: The low unemployment rate does not take into account the millions of Americans whose unemployment insurance has run out but still *don't* have jobs.
#4: I'll concede this one. He kept middle class taxes the same while giving *huge* tax breaks for multi-millionaires.
#5: Gasoline price control? Are you living in the same time/space continuum as me? Under Clinton, gas was $1.20-$1.35/gallon. Under Bush, it's soared to $4.00/gallon briefly and has been above $2.25/gallon for almost a year. In what way is this "control"?
