GM to Layoff 25,000 by 2008

This is the downside of investing on the future of land barges.
Back in 1980, GM had 50% of the US market - it only has about 25% now. The people that bought Oldsmobiles then are retired with their children buying Accords. How much more pain is necessary for GM to realize writting off the compact and sedan car market to Japanese makers was foolish?
