Antartica Warming Up 3x Faster?
One 30-year survey suggests the atmosphere over Antartica has warmed up 2.7 F (or 1.5 C) - three times the rate of the rest of the planet. While the temperatures there are well below freezing, it has at least ten times the ice and snow of Greenland.

Also, there was a good article on Yahoo news yesterday about the death of major coral reefs in the Carribean and Pacific. The bleaching (death) of the coral was directly attributed to higher than normal sea temps. The warming was the highest ever recorded and scientists attributed it to global warming. Fossil fuels and natural planetary cycles are probably to blame as was stated in the article.
When the ice caps melt, Baltimore will be like Venice. Then the new definition of "hybrid vehicle" will be something that is part car, part motorboat. ::bleh::
But remember: The Faux-Cowboy says that global warming is a leftist conspiracy. Yeah, right!

I always take those reports with a grain of salt.
For example our forcast for April in Georgia is an unusually dry month due to a cool ocean. I've heard that it is more solid proof that man is causing global warming.
My only issue with that claim is that if it were anything else, then that too would be solid proof.
I was watching NPR the other evening on the scientists theory of how the Earth/moon was formed.
They said back in the 1970's they placed a reflector on the moon to accurately track the Earth >>> Moon distance, and found the moon is drifting away several inches per year.
The scientists also say that any small changes would cause major weather pattern changes here on Earth.....Although they didn't mention it....Global warming came to mind.
There's also the deal of the Earth's molten core creating the magnetic field which defllects solar winds which is also changing, along with elevated solar flare activity....
Then there's volcanic activity which spews ga-zoodles of tons of particulates and other gasses.....and many more things which can be attributed to a natural cycle...
I'm just not sure who to believe.

Here's NPR's All Things Considered from yesterday related to the Antarctic warming study referred to here. You can listen to the report here.

There seems to be considerable skepticism both in the accuracy and the cause, the findings contradict satellite temps, ground temps, and other analyses of the same data in the past, and current global warming models.

I don't doubt the possibility of a natural warming trend - there was a Medevil "mini Ice Age". While the Antartic story is being met with skepticism, it's more certain that the Arcitc and Greenland are warming, and that the rate of warming is faster than it has been in the past.
