Roll call... how many Altima hybrid owners are here?

Re: Roll call... how many Altima hybrid owners are here?
OK you have 3 now.
Bought a silver one with Tech Package on the 7th of this Month.
First tank was 580 miles for 17 galllons or about 34 mpg.
Dash showed 35.5. However, I do not know if tank was full at
dealer and when I bought the car it had 12 miles on it with 16 mpg.
I did not reset.
Like the car overall but the interior fit and finish needs to be
improved. Traded in an Acura TSX where everything fit like
a glove and felt very tight. The only reason was mpg and the
20 gallon tank. The TSX got 22.
Few sqeaks and rattles here and there which I could smother with
some felt. All electronics work fine. The stereo tweeter not as good
as the Acura.
All the information in the dash that we have to toggle through
should be combined in a single screen in the Navi. The TSX had
this.
Also the low fuel warning is too conservative in the dash. In turned
on when there was 4 gallons left and the car then had a range of
140 miles.
Reset mpg meter after fillup and after todays 10 mile commute to
work, it reads 40.6 .
I drive about 700 miles per month if there are no long drives. Hope
to do 1 tank per month in day to day driving.
Could not have done that on a Camry Hybrid.

LOL!!!!
You don't even own a Camry Hybrid, but I do. I get way better mileage than you do on a regular basis doing over 80 mph (typically 37 to 39 mpg). I don't want to expose myself here but I have done some rather "higher" speeds and still get a minimum of 36 mpg per tank. However, when I do lower speeds I typically see 39+ mpg tanks. All this is after fill up of course cos' the dash is always over estimates the average FE.

Obviously you have not read the full email.
The 34 mpg was for the first tank which was filled at the dealer
and had horrible mpg when I started with it. It is an inaccurate
number. The second tank will be accurate as I will fill it from the
same pump. However, as I said I can get the number only at
the end of May.
The mpg meter is now hovering around 41 with 70% city driving
but the mpg meter is also inaccurate.
Regarding the 700 mile range, the TCH even with 42.5 mpg will
not go 700 miles on a tank. I will obviously not drain out the last
drop but will fill up with 2 gallons remaining.
The NAH with the larger tank allows this even at 39 mpg which I
think I will get now. I may sound a bit silly but going to the pump
only once a month gives me a good feeling even though mpg
may be similar to TCH. This would not have been possible even in a
Prius even though mpg might have been close to 50.

Ok, now we understand. The NAH carries 2.8 more gallons of fuel over theTCH. Cruising rang for TCH is ~670 miles. The extra fuel should give the NAH more than 700 miles per tank.

Re: Roll call... how many Altima hybrid owners are here?
I have an Altima Hybrid with convenience package. Have owned for a month and right now average 33.5 MPG with 90% highway driving. 50 miles each way to work. Very pleased with the car. Replaced a 2002 Ford Explorer. That only gave me 18 MPG with V6 engine. And with gas prices going through the roof, I'm saving a lot of $$$ with this car. BTW, my son also bought one a week before me.

Sorry!
I tried looking up the fuel capacity for the NAH. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find much info on the hybrid version. Even their "standard" Altima brochure didn't list capacities.
I will admit though, that 700 mile tanks aren't common... I've only had two so far. My TCH consumption reads 1.2 MPG better than reality (it was a 46.5 MPG tank).
It is cool if the NAH has a bigger tank. I wish the TCH had the bigger tank as the regular Camry does.

Re: Roll call... how many Altima hybrid owners are here?
Both the Altima hybrid and the Camry hybrid are lovely cars. I like having the 20 gallon tank in the Altima hybrid, but honestly the 17 gallons in the Camry hybrid is plenty. I think we are getting a little spoiled and forgetful about what it was like to drive a non hybrid. My regular vehicle is still a Honda Pilot... and a tank of gas for me in that is in the 300s. A Prius has a much smaller tank than the Altima hybrid... and it gets twice the distance I see in my SUV.
It is getting fun, though, to be saving so much money at the pump with our hybrid.

Hi
Just joining up. Bought mine last week. Tech package. Still on the first tank.
Fun to drive, but in a geeky kind of way. I watch the digital mpg readout, and try to stay at 60mpg, kind of fun.
I upgraded from a '98 civic, a lot more power, a lot more legroom, a lot less trunk space. What can you do
