Default Extended Warranty and Maintanence plus

Hi,
I bought a new 2011 NAH. My dealer is recommending that I take the Nissan Security+ and Maintenance plus packages. I was wondering if they are worth it or not. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Of course they're going to push them. Those are very profitable items for the dealer.

BTW, you ought to consult your warranty booklet for the lengths of various items. I'm assuming that you bought yours (and live in) a CARB emissions state. If so, you might be pleasantly surprised at the lengths on things like the HV battery, various hybrids components and the emissions system.

Thanks for your reply. I was looking for repair statistics
from NAH owners who had it for a while. Has it run into
too many problems etc. I understand it's hard to get such
data but it would be helpful for me to make a decision.

Considering how few people actually post here, you're not going to get a very good sample size.

I've attached Consumer Reports reliability data. The * means they have insufficient data. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/c...faq_ov.htm#2.1 mentions they "require a minimum of around 100 cars to publish reliability information for a model in a given model year".

At http://avt.inl.gov/hev.shtml, they took two 07 NAHs to 160K miles. You can see what their maintenance history was. If you want some w/not so great reliability, look at the GM hybrids. Some needed a hybrid battery pack replacement and one needed a new engine.
