Did you notice that when you scroll down about 1/2 way, there's a reference to the GreenHybrid mileage database?

 

There's 2 references to GH, one when we hit 1000 participants, and another for info about hybrid cars.

Interesting compilation site. Kind of funny, they have the blurb about Bucky, and the Dymaxian house, and they make it sound like the greatest house no one ever lived in, and that he didn't want to sell it. Quite the contrary. He presold thousands, but the business went belly up first. I've actually toured the Dymaxian house several times (It's at the Henry Ford Museum), and while it's wonderfully innovative, it's completely unlivable. In fact, the family who did have them (both of the production models) they ended up building a brick house addon to it.

 

we talked about those houses and buckminster fuller in 3d design (sculpture). it's a shame he wrecked that car he made when trying to get funding. someone died and obvioulsy the deal was off. or something like that. my mom used to work in an industrial park that had a bunch of geodestic dome buildings. the building she worked in was just a regular building.

 

Yes, the dymaxion car... why won't my Civic Hybrid steer from the rear wheel?

 

Rear wheel steering vehicles are prone to massive, uncontrollable oversteer. You'd need a stability control system that can take over the steering in order to make it human-drivable. I can only imagine that it worked with the above mentioned vehicle because it appears there was only one rear wheel, in which case it should be easier, but certainly not equal to front wheel steering. Also, I have my doubts that the above mentioned vehicle would ever challenge modern cars in terms of cruising speed and lane-change ability.
