More of a softening in two existing lines that is more than made up by the success of the new model. Together, they all do better.

Prius 11,177 8,008 71.65%
Highlander 2,581 1,667 64.59%
Camry 4,977 3,100 62.29%
RX 400h 1,514 1,327 87.65%
GS 450h 192 176 91.67%
total 20,441 14,278 69.85%
The most down vehicle was Camry Hybrid. Maybe, the reason was they have to slow down the production moving the main factory from Tsutsumi to Kentucky.

The apparent 'reduction' in hybrid sales from August to November is not so product-related as it is a seasonal. August is always the largest or 2nd largest volume month. It's not a good barometer. Month ( CY ) to month ( PY ) sales is a better indicator.

Nov 06 vs Nov 05
Prius .. 8008 vs 7889 +1%
HH ..... 1667 vs 2353 -29%
400h .. 1327 vs 1722 -23%

The market situation and financial situation are significantly different this year as opposed to last year. Customers are scarcer. If they have been financing their autos using home equity lines those interest rates are beginning to pinch. Auto company finance rates for top credit buyers are in the mid 8% range.

The change in the tax credits on 10-1 certainly has some effect on hybrid sales but so does the 30% decline in fuel prices since July. In addition the Highlander is aging and declining gracefully before it's renewal next year.

There is somewhat less urgency in the market for all of these reasons.
