To me, this "Consumer Affairs" outfit just seems more of a tabloid than a credible consumer oriented org.
Still, I would like to see some hard statistical data to justify the special focus that the Prius got on this report.

Consumer Affairs has always been that way.
Just use Consumer Reports and be happy. I don't doubt that some folks have had problems, it would unusual if there weren't some. However, annedotal accounts are not statistical data.

The article didn't say what the "hybrid-specific" problems were. It also cited a whopping FOUR people with out-of-warranty problems. And, geez, show me a car that DOESN'T develop some mechanical oddities after 100k miles and 5 years?!

 

Consumer reports is better I am sure but also from time to time very biased. It find their reports to be a good source of features and technology type comparison rather than accuracy in ratings.

 

Me too. I think Bob was referring more to their auto reliability ratings, which I have found to be pretty accurate over the years.

 

Consumer Affairs is a NOTORIOUSLY Anti-Hybrid website.

I have sent them multiple complaints over the years and have NEVER heard a peep from them as to a plausible explanation of their negative hybrid bias.

It's awful...........

 

To be brutally honest, CA appeals to those for whom their application to join Mensa was not sent due to the difficulty in overcoming the stamp issue.

I often read the complaints and think that some among us were not intended to walk on two legs....possibly including Joe Benton.
