I noticed that www.bbcnews.com will often have minor America-related articles several days several days after it appears here. Just a thought.

One reason the story was not picked up by Swedish papers is that it's a comparably old hat there. These plans are not new, and as the Guardian reported have been underway for some time, with a considerable amount of progress already made. The Guardian wrote this up, and other European papers picked it up after that, because the Guardian interviewed Swedish Minister Mona Sahlin (Minister for Sustainable Development, wow they have one, great!). I think the interview was of greater interest to British readers, than to Swedish ones.

Reading the major swedish newspaper sites (http://www.svd.se & http://www.dn.se) I see no mention of this.
Also the article in the Guardian seem to speak more about providing alternatives then to abandoning oil if you read this quote

then they could all go to bicycles! But you would still have those who would say thiers was faster & better looking..
