Nissan Leaf EV ready for certified pre-owned program
Filed under: EV/Plug-in, Nissan, USA

Consider this week a cosmic passing of the torch. As legendary Southern California auto dealer Cal Worthington (sans his dog Spot) left this world for that great dealership in the sky, Nissan was making preparations for its all-electric Leaf to make its debut in the realm where good 'ol Cal reigned supreme: the used car lot.
Yes, with more than 33,000 Nissan Leaf EVs sold in the US since the beginning of 2011, the Japanese automaker is apparently starting to see a few of them come back to the fold and, as a result, is making the EVs available in its "Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles" program starting this month.
With an existing eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the Leaf's battery pack, Nissan's offering an additional seven-year, 100,000-mile (whichever comes first) warranty on the EV system and powertrain, not to mention a 0.9-percent, 36-month financing program. With battery capacity a perpetual issue with EVs, Nissan is also offering a five-year, 60,000-mile warranty that replaces the battery if its capacity falls below nine (out of a possible 12) bars. With new, lower Leaf MSRP this year and production moved to Nissan's Tennessee plant, US Leaf sales through August more than tripled compared to last year to 14,123 vehicles. Some day, one of those will be available for sale again. Check out Nissan's press release below.Continue reading Nissan Leaf EV ready for certified pre-owned program
