Detroit, Michigan - General Motors has announced the launch of a new web site that it said is designed to “make a distinction between the facts and rumours surrounding the company.”
The site uses a conversational style to help clarify misconceptions people may have about the company, and is intended to be a resource for anyone looking for more information on recent news and announcements about the company. It is organized by sections, each containing a myth and GM’s response to each one; visitors can email information they hear about GM and request that the issue be addressed on the site.
The site is found at GM Facts and Fiction.

Well... It's good to see that they made it public that they intend to pay the money back. I don't mind the Feds giving them a *loan* as long as it's not a payment-free variety.
I'm not sure if I buy the idea that they didn't anticipate the need for better fuel economy. If they did, they would have made hybridized the Cobalt to compete with the HCH. They would have also designed smaller (yet still practical) trucks for contractors who need to haul things (but not neccessarily haul 10,000 pounds of stuff).
I am looking forward to the Volt. Hopefully it will work as planned and that the technology can be applied to additional vehicles. I'm also looking forward to the revised BAS that has lithium-ion batteries and more power assist (aka make it more like Honda's IMA).
I do hope GM survives. They may have rested on their laurels for 15-20 years, but it seems like they are trying to become competitive again.

Seriously though, the site seems very, well, defensive. Makes me wonder.
A myth-gap! Ohhh Nooo!
What vehicle has stimulated mythologists more than the Toyota Prius? And Toyota is just sittin' there, making cars and whatever, and not debunking myths on their corporate web site.
So c'mon Toyota, find somebody in your outfit not doing anything important and get started busting myths. GM is beating you

I must agree that Toyota needs a site like that too...
