Default The Loremo diesel hybrid - 157MPG for $13000!!

http://www.i4u.com/article5165.html

The car start-up developed a light-weight passenger car with outstanding aerodynamics. The Loremo LS is powered by a 2 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine with 20 hp and 160km/h top speed. The amazing thing is that the Loremo only needs 1.5l per 100km. This is approx. 157MPG!
The Toyota Prius hybrid has only 55MPG (combined city and highway).
With one tank (20l) you could drive 1,300km.
Yummy!

And blows off the road on a windy day!

Sounds interesting. I'd be interested in hearing more about it, especially after a road test or something of that nature.

One reason for the low consumption is the low weight of 450kg. The company designed the Loremo focusing on safety and efficiency and got rid of unnecessary functions. The car is small but still provides space for 4.
The design of the car is very futuristic and has for instance no conventional doors.

Cool lookin prototype car, I like the mileage...
Down side: if a semi passes you at hwy speeds, the hwy patrol will find you later in the trees.

Call me skeptical, but at only 990 lbs I have to agree with PriusGuy04 regarding the semi's.
I'd rather have my family traveling in a safer 2,000lb HCH.
Space for 4 could mean a mini-cooper or MG Midget modified with 4 seats.

I'm pretty sure the 20hp model is designed for dense city use only, kind of like the smart car. If you're rarely ever in a place where you can get over 35mph anyway, 20hp is enough. That's a pretty limited marked in the US, but may work in parts of Europe. I believe the base model Smart has 38hp and weighs 1500 pounds.

The higher powered version of the Loremo, the Loremo GT (50HP, 87MPG, 0 to 60 in 9 sec), looks like it would be a fun-to-drive commuter car. With that light weight, it would be nimble like a go cart.
