this is from the work of GPSman1:

This reveals an increase in horsepower with ethanol.

Cost of mid-grade (not E10) ethanol blends is cheaper

There is a sweet spot with mid-grade ethanol blends in regards to mileage and cost.

Other Honda vehicles were not designed or tested with E10 and therefore the long-term effects are not proven.
Ethanol contains less energy value than petrol. In theory, some loss of power and fuel economy (possibly 2-3%) may occur when using E10.
For further information, please refer to your vehicle owner's manual.

Ethanol: The price of E85, an 85% blend of corn-derived ethanol available to some vehicles, rose to $3.052 a gallon on average from $3.044, AAA reported.
Ethanol burns cleaner than gasoline but has a lower energy content and burns less efficiently in flex fuel vehicles. According to AAA's estimates, a vehicle that burns E85 would pay $4.016 a gallon to get the same mileage as gas.

More competition is a very good thing hopefully the new Honda's will be big sellers.

Ethanol uses far less energy than it produces--
http://www.usatoday.com/educate/lockheed/Ethanol.pdf
remember this does not include the energy spent by the military to ensure oil gets out of the Mid-East.

E30 provides better mileage and less emission than straight 87 octane--

Guess who got better mileage today with E30 than straight 87 octane? Yes, 83 cents a gallon less than 87 octane.

After 202 miles of driving on the interstate, 2 lane state and county highways, rural backroads, jeep trail on a nearly 3000 foot mountain --because I needed to collect information for the state park system in regards to nordic skiing--I recorded a 36.2 mpg figure.

this is better than the mpg figure I obtained prior to filling my tank with E85

Something to learn almost everyday.
I did drive 34 miles prior to adding E85 to my tank.

well thats really good you are getting great milage with using E, you are also doing good for the environment, however i am still not convinced as here in Australia E10 petrol is only 5cents/litre cheaper and i do not think the savings justify a poorer fuel economy for my civic.

Can someone please split the ethanol topic that is hijacking this thread? As if there aren't already a billion discussions on the fuel already...

Check this out! Official press release from Honda today, with a couple teaser pictures (click the link below):

Honda will reveal a concept version of its new small hybrid vehicle, to be named Insight, at the 2008 Paris International Auto Show, October 2, the company announced today. The new Insight Concept shares styling cues with the Honda FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle and will provide an early look at the highly-anticipated five-passenger hybrid vehicle.

Going on sale in the U.S. next spring, the all-new purpose-built Insight will come to market at a price significantly below hybrids available today. From this unique position in the marketplace, the Insight will advance the affordability and accessibility of hybrid technology to a new generation of buyers.
