GM's Wagoner admits killing EV1 was a mistake

No link but this is from the June 2k6 issue of Motor Trend magazine on page 94

"His worst decision? ... Axing the EV1 electric-car program and not putting the right resources into hybrids. It didn't affect profitability, but it did affect image."
The EV1 was the only GM car in recent memory I really wanted. But since I didn't live in SoCal or west AZ, I wasn't allowed to lease it.
I think actually admitting this in public is a big step towards GM making greener transportation. Now lets see if they follow through.

What I forgot to say this morning is while GM is agressive marketing SUVs, they need to mention economy cars, hybrids, etc. to mold the public's attitude they care about this. Good PR might not help short-term sales, but it does mold the perception of a company for better.
