The hybrid Silverados and Sierras will use what GM calls "two-mode" technology that uses the electric motor to assist at highway speeds, not just when the vehicle is doing a lot of starting and stopping.


"We call it a two-mode because, basically, the transmission allows you to use the electric motor in either one of those two types of circumstances," Paterson said.


In the pickup trucks, he said, the technology will improve fuel consumption by about 25 per cent.
This sounds promising. I look forward to test driving one of them, someday.
