Default eBay find: Battery-powered Batpod is ready for battle

Filed under: EV/Plug-in, On Two Wheels, USA

Thinking of taking up a crime fighting career in your local metro area? We have a lead on the vehicle you need - an electric, shotgun-shooting, flame-throwing, Batpod now available on eBay! You're welcome.

This particular crusading cruiser begin life as a 2002 Harley Davidson V-Rod. Its thunderous twin-cylinder has been replaced by a stealthy AC unit from HPEVS which, matched with a Curtis controller, is said to be good for 65 horsepower and 82 pound-feet of torque and features regenerative braking.

Power is supplied by eight AGM lead-acid batteries. Now, normally, we prefer lithium for lightness and range but in this case, the shape of the Optima Bluetops are an integral part of the design. Yes, range may seem meager - about 40 miles in moderate operation - but given the riding position and the lack of rear suspension and that's probably plenty for the bike's purpose.

You can get lots more detail and watch a trio of videos (including a flame throwing demonstration) on the machine's auction page at eBay Motors. Buy it today price is $27,500. No mention of whether that includes a cape.eBay find: Battery-powered Batpod is ready for battle originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Tue, 15 Oct 2013 19:56:00 EST.
