Only because the dead horse is now a rotting carcass. You could forgive articles with misinformation back in 2000 - 2002 when this was all new and not very well understood. It's been six years, and we still get articles like this. When you look at all the research and data produced in this thread, it makes you wonder what folks who are getting paid to do this stuff are doing with their time.

The article was screwed up, they 2nd guessed them selves and now it comes around to huant them...
Has CR weighed in and admitted their error?

Until they do, and I also hear in the mainstream news that they screwed up it will continue to be the new FACT. It probably will be repeated for years anyway.

As pointed out in the "hybrids slowing the carpool lane" thread the CR report is getting continued coverage as if accurate.

Its kinda like people fear change..... They degrade the Hybrids untill they drive them then they are amazed I have ridden with several strangers that have driven my car they fell in love with it once they understood..

I feel there should be one Hybrid Civic & Prius per car lot just for test drives, then they'd have a real waiting list!!!

But how about the hidden assumptions upon which the computational errors are based?

Whoo hoo for the CR retraction! Now let's hope that stops other media sources from incorrectly citing the original, mistaken statement, as that article about going slow in the carpool lane did. (see https://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/...anes.6290.html) No more of that, now, you hear?

and thanks for the numbers, David!

Funny how many numbers are letters. Some people would look at your numbers and say that most of them aren't numbers at all! So for those people, I will translate.
