Default 2004 Civic Hybrid Owner

Hello,

I have a 2004 Civic Hybrid and love it. I did no research before I bought it and am now looking at getting a 2006 and I must be honest, you folks are scaring me about the bugs. Do we have lots of good stories too? Am I making a mistake getting an '06?

Thanks,
Jessica

P.S. How do I put the milage thing in my message here?

I don't have an 06, so I don't know it very well, but the only thing I've heard about is the trip odometer getting weird on average mpg after 62 miles, and there's a fix for that now.

Go to the user cp and edit signature. Enter this exactly (I found your car number in your profile)
HTML Code:

Welcome to green hybrid! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful about the '06.

Thanks for your help with the signature, I guess we will find out if I did it right.

As far as the '06 goes, I guess I should just jump in like I did with the '04
and stop reseaching and scaring myself.

Thanks again,
jessica

I have an '06 and love it. The mileage bug thing is only on certain vehicles (I don't have it) and it looks like there is now a fix for it. Other than that, I have not heard of any more issues with the Civic than any other new car.

Jessica,
Why, exactly, do you want to trade? Styling? Technology? Just like to have a new car? Want the latest thing? Just curious - if you state exactly what you want to accomplish by buying new, there are lots of folks out here that can help you, especially if the reason is for the newer technology.

That is great. I am in Phoenix also, where did you get yours? I have been to see everyone I think and I am most happy with Tempe Honda at this point.

I got rear ended by a Ford F250 and I never thought that the repair would be good enough and decided to get a new one. A month and a half later, I have mine back and it looks SUPER but I guess I have a case of the "wants" because I still want the new one and I think I am getting a great deal. Getting a new one will raise my payment $3/month and extend my loan 1 year past what is left on my current loan. I have 43,000 miles on mine in 2 years and 1 month and figured, why not...

I purchased mine from Right Honda on Bell Road. We know a guy there. No hassles and accessories at a discount but MSRP (at least for now). Really great guy (PJ Arnal at 480-778-2514) in the fleet department. Just a no hassle transaction and he got me one with a Nav in just a few weeks.

Jessica,
Sounds like a decent trade. I love my '06, but have never been in an HCH I. One thing, did you get a tax credit for the '04? There's a thread on the forum somewhere that's talking about having to give part of it back if you don't keep the car 3 years....

As you can see in the forum, there are some technological advances Honda has made, and the styling is definitely different, but beauty is in the eye....

Are you set on a HCH? I'm not trying to talk you out of it, but now that you've owned one before, wouldn't it make sense to look at the Prius and Insight just to compare the features? That's one nice thing about being a previous hybrid owner - your hybrid "IQ" is far higher than the average buyer's...
