VW tests hybrid powertrain on Touran MPV

Volkswagen, reports the German motoring magazine Auto Bild, has built a prototype hybrid Touran, coupling its 1.6 FSI petrol engine to a 13.6hp electric motor.
However, the firm does not apparently plan to put the hybrid powertrain into series production, having found its consumption inferior to that of the production diesel version of the Touran.
