Several hybrids stand out at car show
The enormous Hummer displayed in the middle of the Chicago Auto Show has a secret: the infamous gas-guzzler has a model in testing that uses hydrogen.
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the sole driver for now.
More tangibly, hybrid and highly fuel-efficient cars are at McCormick Place in force. You'll find a luxury hybrid, several sedans, and even a truck.
American manufacturers are straining to catch up with the Japanese, but the U.S. offerings are more diverse and they have more technologies in the works. But don't expect banners or flashing lights to direct you to the hybrids at the show, which ends Sunday.
