Default Honda blew a major marketing oppurtunity

So Honda manages to create the best dang F1 car of the season and instead of going through with the season they bail out. In fact they were going to scrap the team, only it would have cost them an additonal $150 million to do so. Luckly Brawn steped in and saved the team and guess what? BrawnGB won the first race coming in 1st and 2nd. You can't buy this kind of advertisement. Way to go Honda. I hope you are kicking yourself for this.

I don't follow the professional racing scene either, but other automakers have felt it necessary to scale back or pull out as well. Apparently, Honda's been involved in F1 in some way for many of the years since 1964.

Racing does yield benefits that trickle down to passenger cars.

FWIW, Toyota and BMW have pulled out now too. Bridgestone, apparently, the exclusive tire provider is also pulling out.

BrawnGP ended up winning the whole thing. Now they are Mercedes.
