whos getting the insight 2 tomorrow?

Kidding aside, in the information/internet age I second your advice "buy somewhere else".
FWIW, Saturday I swung by the closest Honda dealer (slimiest of the two in town) and they only had an Insight on the floor. It only had the dealer add-on price. They told me that since the vehicle was going to be put into Demo service, they weren't required to display the Monroney sticker.
My local ford dealer wanted $1,500 for the "privelege" of ordering a new Fusion Hybrid or $3,000 over for the car in stock. I bought my Fusion under sticker from another Ford dealership. A car is "hot" for only a limited time.
The sticker price and what I paid for my Insight EX (non-nav) was $21,970.00 (including destination charge). The guy said there was no negotiating that price. I wanted the car bad enough so I took it.
Here's the window sticker.

geez why do you guys get your vehicles so cheap?
we here in Australia would be paying $10,000 more for the Insight and the Hybrid Civic,
you guys are lucky

In many countries, non-domestic car manufacturers pay a very high tax to import cars, and these costs are rolled into the new car price. That could be the case in Australia – not sure. It's a way to favor locally-produced vehicles, and in some countries these hidden taxes can significantly increase the retail price to buy an imported car.

Or conversion, that price would convert to 29.741 OZ$. It looks like your currency is worth about 75% of the us dollar.

yes, the AUD is at 72 US cents, the population here in OZ is about 22 Million ppl so very small compared to the states,
our tarrifs for imported vehicles is about 10% to protect the domestic car markers (Ford and Holden).
Toyota also build cars here, the Toyota Camry and export them to the Middle East.
