I just received a request for an update from Greenhybrid so here it is:

My 2001 manual transmission 1rst generation Insight is running well (bought through eBay 2/10). I have had the IMA battery replaced under warrenty at Honda dealer (no cost), oil changed, 1 rear tire/rim secured, and filled with gasoline 3 or 4 times. My average "mpg" stays between 64.8mpg to 65.0mpg. I have heard that another Insight has been sited across town, I have not seen it. So this appears to be a rare vehicle here, turns heads, and is a conversation starter.

This town/area (south NJ) actually is muscle car oriented. There is a new race-track, Indy style. There seems to be some resistance to change, but it will happen!

It sounds like your car is doing great! Every time I see a first-generation Insight I find myself doing a double-take. Nice cars, and pretty rare in my area as well.
