My first response to the soccer mom would be "Better my car than one of the kids."

I'd also stick it to her insurance rates with a claim..be sure to mention in the claim the location and proximity of children.

 

Since I was pretty sure the $$ would be over $1000, I filed a police report and it went through her insurance. Interestingly, it was the same insurance as mine. Talk about fast payment. I had the estimate faxed to their office on Monday morning and the check was in my mailbox on Wednesday!

I will wait until the repair is complete before I cash it, of course.
