Post 2010 Insight IMA and Charging System HELP!

I purchased a 2010 Honda Insight just a few weeks ago. The car seemed in good shape, everything worked including the IMA system.
Now I am having issues, the Hybrid Battery seems to have lost it's charge, the GPS/Radio stopped working. The car was still able to drive on the gas engine system for a week like this.
A couple of days ago, I started to get the charging system warning with the red battery light. The 12v battery was not getting any charge from the DC to DC. I tested the 12v and it was a bad battery.
I replaced this with a brand new battery yesterday, but the red battery light is still on. Can anyone please provide guidance on what to do? I live on an island with no shops that specialize in Hybrid systems, and none that offer hybrid battery reconditioning.
I called my Honda dealer and was quoted $6700 CAD for a new hybrid battery, which is not feasible based on what I paid for the car.
Car has 140,000KM
