I gave up on the wife. She ruins FE and theres nothing to be done about it. I try my best to overcome her. Its all but a waiste of time.

CGameProgrammer:
int main() {
float scenario1 = (10.0/30.0) + (40.0/30.0);
float scenario2 = (10.0/50.0) + (40.0/20.0);
if (scenario1 > scenario2)
drive(HCH);
else
drive(JETTA);
return 0;
}
bigbearballs:
int main() {
while (1) {
drive(HCH);
}
return 0;
}
maybe only CGameProgrammer will get this
edit: alright the indents aren't working. have fun reading the syntax!

My wife and I actually challenge each other to get better mileage...sounds like I'm fortunate to have a partner that cares about FE.

I don't think its so much she doesn't care about FE, but really has NO desire to learn about the methods of driving which maximize FE. (She actually gets very respectable mileage in her Passat Wagon w/ automatic, V6 and 4Motion - sometimes upward of 25 mpg!)
I think its especially painful since I'm pushing the upper 60's on entire tanks and that takes a LOT of patience and utilizing all the good FE techniques to achieve. It took a while to get there, but i should be able to get my overall mileage up over 60 within a year I hope... I just have to hide the keys.

Texashchman,
I know - some won't take criticism very well. It's like the Cowboy's game when Drew Bledsoe made the mistake of mentioning Keyshawn ("just give me the **** ball") Johnson's fumble (no fault of his own - great defensive hit).
Some of us might have wife's that "just give me the **** key".

- Enter car, turn on A/C, turn off Econ
- Let car idle for 5 minutes to 'warm up'
- Drive to gas station, deflate tires to 20 psi
- Drive to rock quary, put 200 lbs gravel in the trunk
- Stop at Starbucks - idle for 15 minutes in the drive through
- Street race in an all uphill course
- Find a freeway, drive 85 (whether a highway was on her way or not)
- Run whatever errand she needed to that apparantly required my car instead of hers
- Remove gravel, re-inflate tires, return car to garage

Tim --- I sent your post to my wife ..
She is much better now, but for awhile I just could not abide being a passenger in the car when she drove. It was almost as if she had confused the gas and brake pedals.
