Starter Clutch

Starter Clutch
This has probably been covered many times before, but I can't find it. I am rebuilding the CVT on my 2008 Civic hybrid. I have it mostly apart, but CANNOT get the start clutch off. I have take off all the pins and washers holding it on. I have a puller secured to the parking brake. When I tighten it down, it will get super tight, then just spin as I turn the wrench. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Starter Clutch
Lol well that makes me feel better. Seems like there are lots of threads for the gen 1 Insight CVT rebuilds, which are pretty similar.
I have the service manual, but I haven't found CVT disassembly. I've been using the Chilton manual, and I've followed the instructions, but... Now I am here.

Re: Starter Clutch
Thanks so much! I have the service manual on my computer at home. I will look at that tonight to see if there was a step I missed or something.
Have you pulled a start clutch before? Seems pretty straight forward, but... Does the transmission have to be in a certain gear? Is there something else I have to disable besides those 3 locking mechanisms on top?
I'm dumbfounded.

There are several steps described prior to starter clutch removal, and the puller groove is deeply recessed beyond what your tool may allow.
