Default Sneaky spy picutres of the new 2006 Civic

See the early picutres of the new 2006 Civic.
Somehow reminds me of Prius:

Wow, what a great idea to incorporate the egg-shape design and a split window rear hatch back. Why didn't anyone else think of that before now....

Oh, wait, Toyota did!

In all seriousness that was my first though, it just looks like a cross b/w a civic and a Prius.

I though so , too. I hope they bring the 5-door version to the U.S. I think it would help it compete better with the Prius. The hatchback option really expands the versatility of the car.

I have some catching up to do. Need to post this as news, too. Is that actually the color scheme?

Jason,
Nope, thats part of the stuff that they use to hide the true shape of the car. I dont believe the headlights or taillights will be the same either. I do find the overall shape very curious though. Looks more mazda than honda.

If that's the new body style, I'm jumping for joy. I hate the feeling of envy I get when a new version of my current car comes out. No worries about that here.

As the owner of a 97 Civic HX myself, I can't wait to see what motors are available in the 2006 Civic. I'm not sure I'm ready to take the plunge yet, especially since I doubt they'll offer a 2-door hybrid, so I'm hoping for greatly improved motors for the rest of the lineup. I only paid about $14,000 for my Civic HX back in 97 and have been extremely pleased with it over the years. I'd love to see them offer another HX-type model but with hopefully even better gas mileage; maybe 40/47 or so EPA ratings? If they could do that and maybe pick up a couple horsepower to 120-125hp or so, I would buy a new one in a heartbeat.
