Replacing a Stolen Spoiler off a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid
Greetings!
A couple of months back some jerk stole my spoiler off my silver 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid in the middle of the night here in Boston, MA. I brought the car into Prime Honda on the VFW highway to see how much it would cost to replace and it was just too much money...something like $400-500. Yikes! Somehow these dirty rotten thieves stole the “skin” of the spoiler and left the gray plastic shell that is mounted to the car. So, then I bought a $100 OEM model from "thespoilercompany" on ebay after calling them to make sure it would fit. They said it would (and they were wrong). The spoiler looked as though it was the right size upon first look but then there were inserts on the bottom that didn't correspond with the gray plastic mount on the car that was left. So, then I shaved the inserts on the bottom of the spoiler “skin” off hoping it would then fit. Needless to say, it didn’t. Now I’m wondering if it may fit if I shave down the gray plastic that is mounted on the trunk in hopes that the “skin” will come to a delightful end point on this stupid journey to make something work. Whoever thought this would be such a pain for one piece of plastic. Anyone have any cheap ideas to save my car from looking like crap?
Thanks All!
Aaron
P.s. I’ll try to put up pictures of what I’m talking about since it doesn’t seem like many have this problem.

Sadly, a quick look at handa-accessories suggests that $400-$500 is about right for an "installed" price. See http://www.handa-accessories.com/civext06.html

Re: Replacing a Stolen Spoiler off a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid
actually i cannot fully understand your post
let see if i catch up
someone take off with half your rear trunk wing spoiler
they cut off the top part leaving the lower part still attached to your trunk
typically there are two screws attach them to the trunk cover
its either c/w screw or socket mounting
but the mounting holes location are standard inless your don;t
you must remove the existing half portion
and see if the holes fit, at least one hole must fit
so you can drill the other inner hole
did i ring a bell?
pic tell a thousand words

Re: Replacing a Stolen Spoiler off a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid
So, you have four options...
1) leave it off and plug the holes
2) pay 500 for the correct part
3) plug the holes and drill new ones for the cheapo spoiler
4) go to a junkyard and find what you need
Anything I forgot?
