Default questions from a noob

Hi guys. I just recently purchased a 2007 hch. I was wondering if there is a special form that i need to fill out to get the tax credit.


and also when then gas light comes on when i have 2 bars left. how many miles can i go when the gas light comes on?

Ask a friendly accountant. I never do my own taxes, to much paperwork that'd I make mistakes in.

The hybrid gives you a tax credit, deducted from your taxes. Its like a discount on taxes, not free money.

I understand what a tax credit is, the question is do i need a special form?

and anybody else experience the gas tank with the light on.

I'm no accountant but I think you just claim the credit when you do your taxes.
As far as the gas light mine usually comes on with 2 bars showing and if I fill up then it takes around 9.5 gallons the car has a 12.3 gallon tank so do the math with your mileage numbers.

It's IRS form 8910. You can find the 2006 form on the IRS.gov website, but I don't see the 2007 one yet. Then list the form on line 55 of the 1040.

Alternatively, use TurboTax or some other tax software and you won't have to worry about the forms at all.
