Other perqs with HOV sticker in LA
So, aside from HOV lane access, I understand that in Los Angeles & Santa Monica, cars with stickers can park for free at meters:

On the LA page, it says the free parking expires 6/2006 + cannot locate evidence of extension - cannot find time frame for SM.
Has anyone in the area parked at meters and ... not get a ticket?
Any updated info on this perq?
cheers!

Looks like there's free meters in Hermosa Beach and San Jose, too. Here's a complete list from driveclean.caetc/etc/etc

Still waiting to hear from LA....

Re: Other perqs with HOV sticker in LA - woohoo!
Update: On 6/21/06, the Los Angeles City Council approved an extension of the parking benefit through calendar year 2007.
Also this just in:
Recently passed legislation, AB 2600, would increase the number of carpool decals available for qualified hybrid vehicles to 85,000. It would also extend the sunset date of the program by three years to 2011. This bill is somewhat controversial given the results of a California Department of Transportation report which found that some carpool lanes are becoming congested with hybrids, reducing the incentive to carpool. The Governor is expected to sign the bill.
here's a link for perqs in all states for owners of hybrids. the list is pretty extensive - insurance companies are giving discounts, hotel parking in San Francisco is discounted, etc, etc.

Can't wait till I get to drive my HCH II again. It's been 3 hours 22 min
